Client-friendly insurance rewards owners
Two leading figures in the equestrian community have come together to reward commitment to equine soundness via a client-friendly insurance package.

Amlin Plus Limited, the bloodstock and equine intermediary of Amlin plc, has announced a ten per cent reduction of insurance costs for clients who have an Equinalysis screening performed on their competition horses.

Equinalysis screening is performed by trained clinicians, such as vets, farriers and other para-professionals in the equine field, and tracks, quantifies and displays biomechanical data using a laptop and digital camera. “The human eye operates at just 12 frames per second, where as cameras operate at 50 - 1,500; thus, the screening can accurately assess soundness and help pinpoint the cause of lameness or any biomechanical challenges picked up during the vetting process,” explains consultant farrier Haydn Price, who developed the Equinalysis screening.

“It is a useful way to confirm soundness and assesses biomechanical data. The screening can also potentially extend a horse’s competitive life by establishing a profile of movement and soundness and helping the owner to better manage the horse’s training regime.”

“The pre purchase stage is the perfect time to use Equinalysis, and I would support its use,” adds David Ashby, Director of Amlin Plus. “If the horse came up with a problem, I would be happy to use an Equinalysis report to help put together a workable insurance package. Equally, at renewal, a follow-up screening could show how proper farriery or physiotherapy had resolved a problem, and lead to removal of an exclusion.”

Owners are encouraged to speak to their vets about the possibilities of using the Equinalysis screening as an ongoing health assessment, or within a pre-purchase situation. Visit: www.equinalysis.co.uk for details of the technology.
