Equine Gait Analysis System

Equinalysis vision is to bring non-invasive, evidence based medicine to the equine industry. Equinalysis is specifically focussed on products that assist in extending the competitive life and optimise the performance of horses involved in equine sports activities e.g: dressage, eventing, racing etc

Equinalysis unique Equine Gait Analysis System has been specifically designed and developed to visually track, measure, quantify and display accurate biomechanical data. It is currently the only equine dedicated biomechanical system available. System development occurred over a 24 months in consultation with leading practitioners from the veterinary, farriery and biomechanics disciplines. The system is already in daily use with equine specialists across the UK, USA and Nordic regions.

The Equinalysis system comprises of the following:

  • Equinalysis Software for video capture, manipulation and analysis
  • Laptop
  • Casio High Speed Camera (300 Hz)
  • Laptop Stand
  • Carry Case
  • Tripod

In relation to its commercial and research use, Equinalysis has  features which faciliate the use and application of gait analysis within the industry. One major advancement within the Equinalysis system is the  use of automatic digitistaion. Digitistaion is a tool which tracks markers throughout a period of time. Previously digitistaion was carried out manually. This advancemnet of automatic tracking has  not only saved time for the tecnician but more importantly has allowed accurate meaurements, such as joint angles, velocity and acceleration to be obtained.

Since January 2009, Equinalysis is pleased to announce the introduction of high speed analysis. Equinalysis can offer gait analysis at 300 Frames per Second. To put this in to context, the human eye captures at 12 farmes per second, therefore by using high speed analysis we can assess the equine gait in 25 x more detail than when compared to the human eye.
